John Galt Presents: Pattaya Weekend: I came, I saw, I bar-fined

Nothing beats a long weekend away from the grind. I flew into Bangkok and shuttled down to Pattaya on Thursday of last week (hence the reason to put last week's column up early).

This long weekend was a mixture of business and pleasure. I won't bore you with the business because a Pattaya weekend is all about pleasure.

Walking street and the clubs were a bit slow on Thursday (picture is Thursday) but by Saturday the crowd had strengthened quite a bit.

I visited a number of beer bars and made a stop at Secrets. I also went shopping at The Doll House, Roxy, Club Boesche and Living Dolls Showcase.

I took at quick peek at Secret. I only walked in the side door and out the main door. The interior was nice and I like the ambiance. There were a sufficient number of ladies inside, the night was young when I went through so I didn't see a lot of people in there. When I'm out and about I typically like to see a little bit of flesh and secrets doesn't look to be this kind of place. It's looks a place to take a lady or meet friends. I would assume the ladies at Secret's are bar-finable.

Secrets is basically a nice place. The employees seemed to be happy with their working conditions and were in a good mood. I'll need to go back to further evaluate it. I think bars that are off the main drag have difficult times on their own. Secrets will have to work hard in advertising to keep the customer numbers strong. I also believe that bars without flesh tend to have more difficultly pulling in the bigger moneys. But, time will tell.


When I exited, Jen at the front door stopped me and asked me my name and took a few minutes with me. She did her job and she was a very attractive girl. Had I not had other plans, I might have stayed to give Jen the rightful attention that she warrented.

I stopped in at the Doll House. There were a nice selection of ladies there. They were topless on stage. I had this one really buxom young 19 yr old come over and flirt with me. She had long hair and cute face. She was a bit on the shorter side but I didn't notice it at the time.... (I think it was because I sitting on a stool). Oh well, maybe I had my mind on other things that were swaying with the music. I nibbled on her a little bit -- neck, cheek. It's fun to get the her goose bumps rising. I try not to make a pig of myself and I watch for the queues so I'm not over-stepping the her comfort zone. I like to make it a mutually interesting moment. She told me that she was "ceean". That is Thai for horny. I'm thinking, yea, right, like you don't say that to most guys. (???) She let me take a little peak down below, hum... nice, close to completely clean shaven. Well, she was all sized up, but I wasn't ready to make a choice quite yet.

I wanted to spend some time at the Roxy. I went over there and stayed for about 45 minutes. Roxy had full nudity on stage. They also put on little shows.

Roxy is somewhat a hard room in that it has only stool seating. The floors are rock tile and the walls are devoid of soft accents. They had about 30 girls working in there. They were all having a good time. They seem to work together and cooperate very well.

The lighting and sound was nice. No complaints. The service was fast and accurate. They handled my business very well.

I spied one really hot girl with a body type that just suited my tastes. I had her called over and we chatted. She enjoyed a few Tequila shots. She was of medium build. Very firm bust and beautiful curves down below. In the US (where I'm from) I would never have a chance to couple with a hot babe like this under any conditions (and here all I'll have to produce is about $70 worth of gratuity and it's a done deal). I was just about to bar fine her and decided to wait.

Living Dolls Showcase is one of my more favored night spots. They have 5 strata of girl there. I think all are bar-finable. First you have the Hello Girls at the front door. You then have the service girls (OH yes, most of them will go with customers). Showcase also has a class of girl who are known as hostesses. They normally wear long evening dresses. From there you have the normal go-go dancer and then the Showcase showgirls. Showgirls will set you back 1,000 for the bar fine.

The Showgirls are really some of the best in town. Living Dolls Showcase pays them a salary of 15,000 baht a month. They will additionally make money on bar fines and drink sales of course. I like the Showcase venue. The atmosphere is cozy and is well laid out. I have yet to bar-fine a girl from that establishment but I'm sure at some point I will.

I had a chance to speak with Keith the manager. (their normal manager Ken was on vacation). I over-hear Keith telling a friend of mine that business was up solidly this month. I was not surprised at his comments because Showcase was full of customers that particular evening when I (and my friend) were there.

I return later in that night to the Doll House and bar-fined that dancer who I had been nibbling on earlier in the night. I found out later that when she had told me that she was horny that it was indeed the truth (unless of course that girl had direct manual control of specific body fluids?). She took good care of me that night AND the next morning.

She told me about how she had moved to a new room (apartment). She didn't like sharing a bath with other residences at the old location. She was paying the same rate of 3,000 baht (80 USD) a month but it was new construction. However, it was further away from work. A motorcycle taxi ride one way was 70 baht. (So she was paying a minimum of 4,200 baht a month just to get to and from home each month?) (not too sharp in the accounting dept).

The following morning I gave her 2k and we hit a little bit of a sour note when she hit me up for taxi money. I declined. I told her that 2 was a pretty good number (I think that I was subconsciously protesting her poor decision on her location). I told her that if I were an English teacher it would have given her much less..... (just kidding with you guys - I didn't say that - wouldn't want her to hit me!) Oh well, you can't please them all 100%.

Periodically, the police in Pattaya collect a bunch of "girls" from the street and arrest them for prostitution. They cruse the main strip at the waterfront (Beach Road) and round up a couple of car loads. They are brought to

head of Walking Street and are processed at a police stand there. I believe the police are using this public showing as a form of deterrent. Frequently when arrests are made the police make a public show of it.

Click on this picture for a close up of the faces of these offenders. You'll see that most of them are Katoeys. I believe there were also a few older ladies in there as well.

See the "girl" in the front with the green shirt. See how she is standing? This is a Katoey. You can frequently pick them out by how they stand and how they move.

What an interesting bunch these ones are. There looks to be one honey in the middle. Click on this photo and look at the one with a white low cut top. This could be a Katoey as well as her make-up is applied just a bit on the heavy side.

Did you know that quite a few Thais feed their dogs and cats primarily rice? Their pets won't normally eat rice it so the owner mixes it with just a little fish or chicken. Rice of course is a starch and dogs and cats can't digest this material and consequently the animals suffer from malnutrition. Pets may show mange on their coats or suffer from other unusual ailments. Generally, they don't live a long full life. I did meet one gentleman who ran a street side vending business where he sold roasted chickens. He told me he fed his Doberman pincher an entire chicken each day -- that dog was enormous in size.
