SCHOOL HISTORY

Originally, Patumwan Demonstration School was the demonstration unit of
The Secondary Level Teacher's Training Department of Triam Udom Suksa School,
Payathai Road. The learning and teaching project was started in 1953. Our school
was the first Thai Demonstration School and the first co-educational school of the
secondary level in Thailand. At present, we exist as a unit of The Instructional and
Curriculum Division of The Faculty of Education, Srinakharinwirot University,
The school is located at 2 Henri-Dunant Road, Patumwan District, Bangkok 10330.

School Educational Programs

There are two programs,
The Regular Program and The English program for Talented Students - EPTS

 

Educational Levels

The two levels are
          1. Lower secondary M.1 – M.3 (Grade 7 – Grade 9)
          2. Upper secondary M.4 – M.6 (Grade 10 – Grade 12) comprises of :
                   Academic Program I.   : Math. – Science
                   Academic Program II.  : Math. – English
                   Academic Program III. : Languages; French or German
                   Academic Program IV. : General Math. – English

 

The objectives of the school

          1. To study, observe and conduct training courses for student teachers.
          2. 
To experiment and promote research in education in various fields.
          3. 
To demonstrate new methods of teaching, taking into consideration
              the particular conditions within the country.

 

Vision

The school intends to develop the innovation within the school which will in turn
provide benefit for the community. We aim to produce students of the highest
calibre with solid moral and ethical foundation and in good health. Students will
be comfortable in today's global environment while always retaining the essence
of Thai culture. Students will value and respect nature and the environment
enabling them to live happily and in harmony.

Other Institutional Support

          1. The Parent and Teacher Association of Patumwan Demonstration School
              ( PTAP )    The aims of The PTAP are:-
                    1.1 To promote good understanding, exchange ideas and experiences
                          between parents and teachers.
                    1.2 To provide activities for the parents to participate in.
                    1.3 To promote in cooperation between parents and teachers in
                          education, art, culture, etc.
                    1.4 To cooperate in education, instill moral and ethics, to solve the
                          problems and train students.
                    1.5 To support welfare of the students and the members.
                    1.6 To coordinate with the government, other institutions, foundations
                          to help students and members to acquire knowledge, look after
                          behaviour, health and welfare, however not concern with politics.
          2. The Alumni was organised in 1977 under the name "Satit Patumwan Alumni"
              The aims of Satit Patumwan Alumni are :-
                    2.1 To keep the school in their thoughts.
                    2.2 To strengthen unity and close relations among alumni.
                    2.3 To assist among members.
                    2.4 To help and support school activities.
                    2.5 To encourage high achievement for the school.

 

School Achievement

The school is also noted for producing a large number of students who
successfully, enter universities and other institutions of learning both
national and international levels.
The school has achieved much success both in the lower and upper
secondary levels such as ; The King's Scholarship, The Royal Thai
Government Scholarships, The International Olympiad (Chemistry,
Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Computer), The German Government
Scholarships, The Japanese Government Scholarships, The Singaporean
Government Scholarships, The Exchange Student Scholarships,
some private scholarships from various foreign institutions, as well as
the national and international competitions.

 

Honours

15 time recipient of the King's Award for “Best Education Management”
for mid-sized education institution, and once again in 2004 in the large
educational institution category (for 2003 school year, Bangkok School
District), for a total of 16 honours.
